Audi to reveal Q8 concept at Detroit auto show [News]

Audi Q8

Audi is jumping into the full-size crossover segment as it prepares to reveal the Q8 concept at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Although the company released little technical detail about the new crossover, they did release two fairly detailed sketches showing what the Q8 will look like once it debuts.

The front end has a much wider take on the corporate Audi grille, known as the Singleframe in Audi-speak. The Q8’s profile is luxury-crossover generic, with a raked rear window that is becoming almost cliche in the class.

It’s a reasonably handsome crossover with the grille being the concept car’s most distinctive feature, but at the end of the day it looks like just another five-door crossover.

Audi also touts the interior space in the Q8, which they say offers four equally comfortable seats despite the flat roofline. Given the car’s proportions and that raked rear window, it most likely doesn’t have three rows of seats, but that is just speculation.

The Q8 will debut during the Detroit show on January 9 at 8 am Eastern time.
