Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3 Movie Trailer: New Characters For a New Adventure

Here’s the newest trailer from Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3. It looks like there are a ton of new characters and an all new adventure for the main car-actor (see what I did there?) Lightning McQueen. This installment has the vibe of the later Rocky movies where the old pro coaches a younger competitor.

The sketch above comes directly from Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3 concept art. It appears to be Lightning McQueen tutoring a young, yellow racer (Cruz Ramirez), the same way Doc Hudson helped him – maybe.

Here’s a quote given to Entertainment Weekly from Brian Fee, Disney-Pixar’s Car’s 3 director, “McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1,” says first-time Pixar director Brian Fee, a storyboard artist on the first two Cars films and the man entrusted by story guru/Cars whisperer John Lasseter to take the wheel. “He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”

Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3 hits theaters in the Summer of 2017.

Here’s the first teaser trailer:

Speaking of cars – cool ones that shouldn’t exist, but we’re grateful that they do.
