On June 19, Honda announced that they would be revealing the all-new Honda Accord on July 14th. With this announcement came a teaser image showing off the new front end. Now, Honda has fully revealed the 2018 Honda Accord to show off the rest of the refreshed design.

Design

Honda heavily emphasized the new design for the 2018 Honda. The Japanese automaker has tweaked the proportions of the new Accord. It now has a longer wheelbase, shorter overall length, and wider stance to give it a more aggressive look. There is also a noticeable rake to the car, adding to the sporty design. Of course, styling is completely subjective. Some will like it and others will not. But it certainly looks more aggressive than the last generation.

Powertrains

Honda has developed three new powertrains for the 2018 Honda Accord as well. First is a 1.5L turbocharged four cylinder that makes 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. This motor has two transmission options, both powering the front wheels. You have the choice of a CVT or a 6-speed manual, should you prefer to change your own gears.

Next is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. There are two transmission options on this engine as well. The first, and likely the more popular option, is a 10-speed automatic that sends power to the front wheels. Before the 2018 Accord, no company had used a 10-speed on a front wheel drive car. For those who prefer to change their own gears a 6-speed manual transmission is also available. Like the 10-speed, this manual option sends power to the front wheels. Honda claims that this powerplant has similarities to the engine seen in the Honda Civic Type-R, adding to its claims of increased performance.

Finally, there will be a hybrid engine available. Honda says it will use the same two-motor system that it has been using. However, they have not released performance specs on this engine option yet.

Features

Given that this is an Accord, we wouldn’t expect to see the same amount of technology as we do in a Mercedes S-Class. But that hasn’t stopped Honda from adding some new tech. Most notable is the new 8.0-inch infotainment display that features Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Also available on the 1.5L and 2.0L models is a new heads-up display. This display can show various information including speed, engine rpm, turn-by-turn navigation, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Pricing and release dates have not been announced yet, so be sure to stay tuned to TFLcar for more information regarding the 2018 Honda Accord.
