2018 Volvo XC60: Two Friends Review the Car in Spain [Video]

On this Buddy Review Andre and his friend Javier Mota, from autoproyecto.com, review the 2018 Volvo XC60. Volvo was kind enough to fly them out to Barcelona in the northeast corner of Spain just to drive the premium crossover. The question they set out to answer: Can the refreshed model repeat the success of the last XC60? Given that the old model was Volvo’s best selling car, that is no short order.

Powertrains

Volvo offers three different new “twin-charged” engines for the XC60. All three of these powertrains feature a turbo and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (minus the T5 which only has the turbo). The T5 engine makes 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. It delivers power to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Next is the T6 which features both a turbo and a supercharger. This iteration makes 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque. Again power is sent to all four wheels with the help of an 8-speed auto. Finally, there is the T8 engine. This has the same engine as the T6 paired with an electric motor in the back. Combined, the two motors make 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque.

Features and Pricing

The XC60 raided the same toolbox used on the XC90 when it came to interior improvements such as the infotainment display and interior layout. Pricing for the base model XC60 starts at $41,500 and goes up from there. With every option box ticked, you are looking at a price north of $60,000.
