• Dodge Demon: At the Drag Strip in the World’s Fastest Accelerating Production Car [Video]

When you bring out the fastest accelerating production car in the world, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, there’s only one way to introduce it, at a drag strip. TFL was lucky enough to sit in the front seat as Dodge showed off the Demon’s 1/4-mile awesomeness and take you along for the ride. Along the way, Roman has Dodge spell out the top-five firsts owned by the Demon.

    #5 – World’s Fastest 0-60 MPH Production Vehicle

It’ll hit 60 mph from a dead stop in 2.3 seconds. To pull this feat of explosive propulsion off Dodge specified special tires to handle the monstrous 770 lb-ft. of torque to the rear wheels. The tires are so specialized for drag racing that the car is limited to a top speed of 160 MPH. The tires are spec’d to go any faster.

    #4 – World’s First Production Car With Front-Wheel Lift

A purpose-built and tuned suspension moves all that torque to the rear wheels and consequently lifts the front end. You gotta see it to believe it.

    #3 – World’s Fastest 1/4-Mile for a Production Vehicle

It’ll cover the distance in 9.65 seconds. In other words, lightning fast.

    #2 – World’s Highest Acceleration G-Force in a Production Vehicle

Try 1.8 g’s that will slam you back into the driver’s seat and drain the blood from your face.

    #1 – Highest horsepower (840) in a Production V8 Engine

    This one speaks for itself.

Plus! All these best-in-the-world marks and firsts can be had for just under $85,000 from Dodge. Don’t forget that includes a factory warranty.

      1. Yep, we are also wondering about when or if the Ford Shelby GT500 or the Chevy Corvette ZR1 are coming.

      2. Auto makers make these kind of cars because they are too stupid to make a quality vehicle that will last 5000 k. I guess they will continue to do so as ling as there are people stupid enough to buy them.

    1. Theirs no way for ten years dodge didn’t have an answer now they do and ford and Chevy just sit watching. I mean secondly dodge was ahead via the neon srt4 ,ford and Chevy didn’t have answers for years Chevy answered using cobalt ss ford years latter with the focus st after copying Mazdaspeed 3’s whole recipe and using their shared chasis this is all getting interesting

    2. Hmmm the demon a slightly modified hellcat. the smarter move to do is the few upgrades that’ll take to convert to a demon since their isn’t much that separates the two bigger supercharger wider wheels one or two more things how is that worth the extra tens of thousands it isn’t
