And so the dominoes have started to fall. First Volvo announced that by the 2019 model year, all their vehicles would have some sort of electric-powered component. Today, Land Rover and Jaguar followed. According to the British car maker (owned by India’s Tata Group), after 2020 all their vehicles will either be pure EVs or plug-in hybrids.

The first big launch toward this new directive is next year’s release of the Jaguar I-Pace, an electric four door SUV with all-wheel drive. Jaguar claims a 4-second 0-60 time thanks to 516 lb-ft. of torque and 400 hp. Range is 220 miles. In other words, the I-Pace will offer buyers an alternative to the Tesla Model X.

This news begs the question: What manufacturer will be next to commit to going electric? Or even better, what car company going electric would make you believe the end of the world is upon us? Put your guesses in the comments below.
