Honda has now put the 2018 Civic Type R on sale, unchanged from this year’s limited production run.

If you’re looking for a new Civic Type R, here’s your chance. Honda has just announced that the 2018 Civic Type R is on sale. It marches forward unchanged from this year’s limited production run, albeit with a slight price bump. It returns for 2018 with an MSRP of $34,100, compared to 2017’s $33,900 MSRP (excluding an $890 destination charge). Other than that, the model moves forward unchanged.

The 2018 Civic Type R will still have the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder mustering 306 horsepower and 295 lbs.-ft. of torque. It will still have a six-speed manual transmission, and it will still have one trim level. It will still have a limited-slip differential, and its dual-axis strut front suspension setup that drastically reduces torque steer. The car still has all the same characteristics from our test earlier this year.

What’s important here is that more folks will get a shot to own Honda’s hot hatch king – the first of its kind in the United States. In 20 years, this is the first generation of Civic Type R to reach our shores. It’s also the first Type R model in this country since the Acura Integra Type R left us sixteen years ago. That may be bad news for those who bought their Type R for exclusivity. On the other hand, it does mean more will experience the unexpected surprises in the 2018 Civic Type R.

For those who are interested, the 2018 Civic Type R is produced at Honda’s Swindon, UK plant. However, Honda produces the engine right here in the good ol’ USA, at it’s plant in Anna, Ohio. If you just can’t get enough VTEC in your life, here’s to hoping the new Civic Type R will grace your dealer’s lot soon. Don’t forget, you can also kit out your Civic Type R with the Red Carbon Kit. If there’s not already enough red throughout the car for your liking.
