2019 BMW i8 Roadster: Green and Gorgeous? [Video]

The original BMW i8 came out in 2014. It served as a way for BMW to prove to themselves and the masses that they were capable of incorporating electric drive technology into a sports coupe. Well, BMW has improved on the i8 by launching the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster at this year’s LA International Auto Show.

2019 BMW i8 Roadster: Updates and Improvements

The biggest change made to the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster is, of course, the soft-top convertible roof. To make room for all those moving parts, BMW has removed the back seats, making this a two-seater. BMW have also added a bit more battery to the Roadster, from 20 to 34 Ah, according to BMW. This, plus a slight power increase means that the 2019 i8 Roadster will do 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the coupe.

The new i8 Roadster will go on sale in the Spring of 2018, although pricing has not been announced.
