2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible Debuts in Los Angeles
This is it – the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 convertible. Chevrolet says it’s the most powerful and the fastest drop top Corvette ever. Is it? After its original debut in Dubai, this high performance machine made an appearance this week at the 2017 LA Auto Show. Well, there are 755 horses and 715 lb-ft of torque pumping through a 6.2L LT5 V8 with a giant supercharger on top. It definitely has the power. How about speed? Chevrolet claims the ZR1 Convertible is capable of a 0-60 MPH time of just under 3.0 seconds, a quarter-mile time of around 10 seconds, and a top speed of over 200 mph (the ZR1 Coupe is quoted at 212 MPH top speed). Yea, those are impressive claims!
There are two transmission choices: a 7-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 convertible is just about 60 pounds heavier than the coupe, and there is no measurable performance decrease if you choose the topless version.
Both the ZR1 coupe and convertible go on sale in the Spring of 2018 with a starting prices of $119,995 for the coupe and $123,995 for the convertible. There is a $2,995 ZTK performance package that includes: an adjustable High Wing (that provides up to 1,000 lbs of downforce at top speed), a front splitter with carbon-fiber end caps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and specific Magnetic Ride Control tuning.
