2018 Honda Clarity
So, what exactly is this new plug-in all about? Honda launched the Clarity fuel cell vehicle in December 2016. After that, they followed that up with an all-electric Clarity in August of this year. The plug-in hybrid is meant to offer a third option for electrification in the Clarity’s lineup.
Power for this plug-in hybrid comes from a 181-horsepower electric motor producing 232 lb.-ft. of torque. Of course, there is also a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine that sends power to the electric motors. But, this can act as a generator when the car’s 17-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack runs out.
