Is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio Quicker than the Porsche Macan Turbo? [Video]

Which is the fastest performance crossover – the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio or the 2018 Porsche Macan Turbo?

The world of performance SUVs in the U.S. just got a new contender in the form of the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. With a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from the Giulia and 505 horsepower, the Stelvio is one of the fastest SUVs around the Nurburgring. But how does it perform in a 0-60 sprint in real world conditions? Today, we pitch the Stelvio Quadrifoglio against the 2018 Porsche Macan Turbo in a acceleration battle for glory.

Porsche’s Macan Turbo model starts at $77,000, roughly equivalent to the Alfa’s starting price ($79,995 MSRP). However, options quickly escalate the Macan’s price well past the Stelvio’s. This Macan Turbo that Alfa Romeo provided for comparison purposes rang in at $95,880, and that’s without the performance pack. The Stelvio is $85,890 as equipped.

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has power on its side. That 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 chucks out 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Macan Turbo’s base engine, a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, puts out 400 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. The Porsche’s quoted 0-60 time stands at 4.6 seconds, while the Stelvio’s is 3.9. So how do they actually perform in real world conditions? Watch the video above to find out!
