Spied! New Audi RS 5 Sportback Spotted in New Jersey [Photos]

A TFLcar viewer sent in some photos of what appears to be the 2019 Audi RS 5 Sportback.

Fresh from New Jersey, TFLcar viewer Kalmey S. from New York sent in some photos of a camouflaged RS 5! Today, we have what appears to be the 2019 Audi RS 5 Sportback. While the regular RS 5 is indeed a coupe, it will soon gain a four-door brother. Think of it as a baby RS 7. From the front, the look is classic Audi, and the mesh grille indicates a high-performance variant, as opposed to the horizontal chrome grille in the normal A5. The large dual exhausts out back also speak to something beefy under the skin.

As with the RS 5 coupe, the Sportback will make its power from a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V6. Specifically, that unit churns out 444 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It’s not the full-on V8 we used to get in the old RS 5, but the new six-pot should have a more accessible torque curve, according to Audi. Likewise, the RS 5 sprints to 60 in 3.7 seconds or so, and we’d expect the Sportback to run at about the same pace.

Options on the list may well include sports exhaust, dynamic suspension and carbon ceramic brakes. Not to mention you should be able to get all the usual trimmings you can fit on other hot Audis. That means black exterior trim, body-color mirror housings, and special alloy wheels…for a price, that is.

There’s no official word on whether this car’s coming yet, but an interview with Roadshow back in January all but confirmed it. Stay tuned to TFLcar.com for more updates!

If you have some spy shots of your own, be sure to submit them to info@tflcar.com! Thanks again to Kalmey for these great Audi photos.
