Which one should I buy?

In any guise, the 2018 Toyota 4Runner will provide a rugged, solid transport that should get you anywhere you need to go. That’s particularly true if you buy a four-wheel drive model. One thing to keep in mind is that, because it’s a body-on-frame design, it does drive more like a truck. A car-like crossover this is not. However, if you can get past that, there are three different directions you can go with a 4Runner.

If you’re looking for a stout family hauler and don’t need to go off-road all that often, we’d recommend going with the SR5. The Premium trim level adds a bit more comfort, but may not be worth the extra money for what you get. However, the third-row seat is a nice option if you ever need to transport people over cargo.

The Limited trim adds a fair degree of luxury, and that permanent four-wheel drive system does add a sense of security. If you’re willing to spend the extra money for creature comforts, this trim is the way to go.

Finally, the TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium and TRD Pro trims offer great off-roading capability and most of the features you get in the other trims. Thanks to Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, and A-TRAC, the 4Runner is capable of going way off the beaten path. If you don’t go off-roading all the time, we’d recommend the TRD Off-Road trim. It offers most of the same features at the lowest price.
