Turns Out, You Can Drive a G-Wagen off a Roof and Survive…Somehow

The G-Wagen looks a little banged up though.

Hollywood is full of Mercedes-Benz G-Wagens. However, not too many of them end up on their roof. On January 3rd, around 11 PM, a G-Wagen driver broke through the wall of a parking garage and plummeted 3 stories before landing on the vehicle’s roof. Despite the huge fall, the SUV managed to keep the driver alive. Though, he did end up in the hospital as a result of the crash.

After the crash, the driver was stuck in the cabin of his G-Wagen. Fortunately, first-responders and local bystanders were able to safely free the driver from his vehicle.

What happened?

The driver reported something got stuck between the pedals, causing the German SUV to accelerate forwards out of control. However, a police report suggested that the incident was most likely a case of the driver hitting the wrong pedal.

Logically, police checked to see if the driver had been using drugs or alcohol. However, neither appeared to be present in the driver’s system.

What about the Car?

Of course, Twitter managed to do a great job of capturing the aftermath of the incident. One video shows the hole left by the Mercedes, which is remarkably square in shape. Though, other photos show the state of the G-Wagen after it fell 3 stories onto its roof. Amazingly, the SUV remains relatively in-tact. The roof caved a bit, and the front end took a large hit from smashing through a wall. But overall, the SUV remains structurally put-together.

While we haven’t received further details on the status of the driver, we hope he has a speedy recovery.
