The new Porsche Taycan isn’t here just yet, but prospective buyers won’t have to worry about charging for awhile when they buy one. Thanks to Electrify America, original owners can access its network without fees for the first three years of ownership. Under the plan, owners get unlimited 30-minute charging within that three-year timespan after they buy the car.

Electrify America plans 484 locations in more than 40 states across the country by 2020. Each station has CCS chargers capable of up to 350kW, as well as CHAdeMO chargers capable of 50kW. Porsche claims the 800 volt technology available in CCS chargers will add 60 miles of range in just four minutes.

All 191 Porsche dealers will install DC fast charging stations in the United States. When everything’s said and done, Porsche estimates the total infrastructure investment at around $70 million. Between the two networks, Taycan owners shouldn’t have much trouble charging up when they need to.

Of the new Taycan, Porsche Cars North America CEO Klaus Zellmer says, “Every Porsche is a sports car with a soul, and the Taycan is soul electrified. Together, Electrify America and out Porsche dealer network will provide a national infrastructure for DC fast charging.”

What’s more, it’s not just at public charging stations Porsche wants to stress for Taycan owners, either. Zellmer said, “Porsche home charging technology will turn the customer’s garage into the equivalent of a personal gas station.” Details on the Porsche home charging system will come later.
