Land Rover Teases The New Defender Before Its September 10 Debut

We already know what it looks like.

The Frankfurt Motor Show is coming up, and that means the 2020 Land Rover Defender is inching ever closer to its official reveal. Until then, we’ve had spy shots and Land Rover’s other teasers to go on. Earlier this week, we even saw the car completely uncovered from the new Bond movie set. Land Rover is not quite ready to show the Defender on its own terms yet, but the official reveal is coming at 4:00 AM EDT (10:00 AM CEST) on Tuesday, September 10.

The 2020 Land Rover Defender is taking on the Valley of the Castles in Kazakhstan on its way to Frankfurt, according to Land Rover. Along the way, the company recounts its development, from extreme temperatures to high elevations. The Land Rover Defender has a legendary reputation for ruggedness and off-road capability. For the new model to succeed, the all-new model has to retain that capability.

The 2020 Land Rover Defender sports distinctive styling from its stablemates, including a slim grille and a boxy shape. Land Rover will sell the new model in 90, 110 and 130 variants, though the company hasn’t announced the specific engine lineup. Common knowledge says it will use gas and diesel engines from the rest of the Jaguar and Land Rover Range, from the 2.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium engine on up. A hybrid variant with nearly 400 horsepower has also been suggested as part of the lineup.

We should know much more when Land Rover actually reveals the Defender on September 10. Stay tuned to TFLcar.com for more details. In the meantime, check out Land Rover’s teaser video below:
