This Is It! Check Out The 2020 Land Rover Defender, Complete With An Integrated Winch!

The 2020 Land Rover Defender, as shared by shedlocktwothousand on Instagram.

We’ve seen teaser after teaser, and the 2020 Land Rover Defender is set to debut next month in Frankfurt. As is the way with hot-ticket cars, though, the proverbial cat is out of the bag thanks to this latest Instagram post. Of course, there’s still the boxy shape we’ve all known was coming, but now we can see much more detail, straight from the set of the upcoming Bond film “No Time To Die”.

So, what is there to see? It says “DEFENDER” across the front, and there’s a much sleeker grille than was in the old Defender. That said, the blocky, square headlights denote the more rugged aesthetic of the 2020 Land Rover Defender against its suave compatriots from Land Rover and the Range Rover lineup. One feature that might surprise you here is the integrated winch. That’s something that we haven’t seen on Land Rover’s models lately, although we did spot a winch in earlier spy shots.

Apart from the front end, there are big, chunky off-road tires and wheels. Good, as it should be. I’m a bit mixed on the door mirrors — they’re a bit too small, to my mind. However, the rest of the car looks as it should given its heritage stemming back to the original Series I Land Rover. We can’t wait to see this car in the flesh, and more importantly to take it off-road in the Colorado mountains.

One thing that still remains a mystery until the reveal is the powertrain. Will the 2020 Land Rover Defender pack a 2.0-liter Ingenium engine? A 3.0-liter V-6? Possibly even a turbodiesel V-6? We’ll have to wait and see, but one thing’s even clearer with these unclad photos. The Jeep Wrangler and even the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen ought to watch their backs. The 2020 Land Rover Defender may just be a serious thorn in their sides.
