Forbidden Fruit: It’s Completely Absurd These 10 Incredible Vehicles Are NOT Sold In The U.S.

We wish they would make it over to our shores, but it's not likely

Why Can't You Buy the Volkswagen California in the US?

We start things off with a vehicle that obviously belongs in America: this Volkswagen camper van. Come on, it has California in the name, for crying out loud. This quirky adventure rig has a built-in rooftop tent for sleeping accommodations, stowable camping chairs and much more. It also has 4Motion all-wheel drive, so you can take the California somewhat off the beaten track without too much worry.

Last year, Volkswagen even brought us and a host of other journalists out to California to experience the California van, but that didn’t mean it was coming to the U.S. It’s like the idea was, “Hey, take a look at this nifty camper van you can’t have. Isn’t it great?” Every once in awhile automakers would do that to gauge interest, but as vans seem to be played out in the U.S., we’re probably in the minority on wanting VW to invest in bringing it here. We are supposedly getting the ID. Buzz in a few years though, so that’s a small consolation.
